Source: Getty Images/VNA | On March 1st, Chinese foreign minister Yang Jeichi held a talk with the Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna over a host of bilateral and international issues.
The visiting Foreign Minister met the External Affairs Minister S. M. Krishna today. The two leaders held discussions on the fourth meeting of the world’s fastest growing emerging economies - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, known collectively as BRICS. The BRICS Summit will be held in New Delhi on March 28 and 29 for the first time.
The Chinese government is committed to enhancing the strategic and cooperative partnership between China and India. China stands ready to work together with India to uphold good-neighborliness, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, broaden exchanges and promote more comprehensive growth of China-India relations.
S. M. Krishna said that India gives priority to growing its relations with China. It is consistently committed to developing the strategic and cooperative partnership between the two countries.
The two sides agreed that there is enough space for India and China to grow together and broad area for mutual cooperation. A stable and steadily growing China-India relationship is not only in the interest of the Chinese and Indian peoples, but also conducive to peace, stability and prosperity in Asia and the world.
They agreed on bilateral programs of exchanges and cooperation for 2012. High-level visits and contacts will be maintained and efforts will be made to explore and expand cooperation in various fields, promote provincial and local-level cooperation, and conduct dialogue on maritime cooperation.
The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on international and regional issues of mutual interest./.
