CPV: Erasmus Mundus is the European Union (EU) cooperation and mobility programme in the field of higher education, which promotes the EU as a center of excellence in learning around the world.
It tries to enhance the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in third countries. It supports European top quality Masters Courses and provides EU-funded scholarships for third-country nationals participating in these Masters Courses, as well as scholarships for EU nationals studying in third countries.
The programme's overall aim is to enhance the quality of European higher education by fostering cooperation with third countries. Its ambition is to improve the development of human resources and to promote dialogue and understanding between peoples and cultures. The programme's specific objectives are:
• To promote a quality offering in higher education with a distinctly European added value, attractive both within the EU and beyond its borders
• To encourage and enable highly qualified graduates and scholars from all over the world to obtain qualifications and experience in the EU
• To develop more structured co-operation between EU and third-country institutions and to encourage outgoing EU mobility as part of European study programmes
• To improve the accessibility of higher education and to enhance the profile and the visibility of European higher education throughout the world
The Erasmus Mundus programme comprises four concrete Actions: Erasmus Mundus masters courses, Erasmus Mundus scholarships, partnerships, and enhancing attractiveness.
European and non-European graduate students having successfully obtained a first degree awarded by a higher education institution anywhere in the world can enroll in an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course.
They must have completed their undergraduate studies and been awarded their degree. Persons having obtained a university degree of a higher level can, of course, also enroll in an Erasmus Mundus Masters Course, if the specific admission conditions of the Course so allow.
Erasmus Mundus scholarships are for graduate students and scholars. There are two different scholarship schemes for graduate student and scholars under Erasmus Mundus, of which one is for third-country nationals.
