The Thailand Labour Minister Phadermchai Sasomsub on July 11 said that one of labour markets Thailand needs for its construction field is Vietnam.

Apart from researching and promoting to receive employees from Vietnamese market, Thailand also continues to receive employees from Lao, Cambodia and Myanmar. However, these countries are short of labourers because of their strong developing economies, especially Myanmar.

Facing the pressure on shortage of skillful and unskilled workers in the field of construction, the Thailand Ministry of Labour is searching suitable measures to resolve this matter. Besides the high growth rate of the Thailand’s economy has been recovered, the country also needs a lot of workers in the field of construction to solve the consequences of the historical floods at the end of 2011 in the Central of Thailand, including Bangkok capital.

With the regulation of minimum salary of 300 baht/day (around 10 USD), legal foreign workers in Thailand also enjoy insurances and other interests stipulated by the government of Thailand.

At present, Thailand has nearly two million foreign workers, of whom a large ratio is illegal./.
