The country of Vietnam with beautiful natural scenery lovely, hospitable and hard-working people has just been introduced to the public and art photography admirers in Uruguay, through an exhibition in the capital of Montevideo.

The exhibition named “Forever Vietnam” presents for a month at the headquarters of the Uruguayan art photography club. The exhibition displays 16 photos taken by the photographer Amanda Pérez during her three-week trans-Vietnam journey at the end of 2011. She recorded remarks of the past war, landscapes and moments from the daily lives of those in the ‘S-shaped’ country.

Amanda said that she uses both black-and-white and colours to create a contrast. The black-and-white photos show the glorious past against the aggressors, losses and extermination of the war and the colour photos introduce Vietnam today with beautiful scenery, a happy family atmosphere and productive life.

Born in Argentina but settling in Uruguay, Amanda shared the pain of the people of Vietnam during or after the war and she was very glad when Vietnam gained national independence and unity. She affirmed that her visit to Vietnam has achieved a better result than her expectation as a tourist, a photographer and a person who had great sympathy for Vietnam

Ms Amanda said that the most impressive thing during her visit to Vietnam was seeing with her own eyes the country with it’s beautiful scenery, likable, generous, hospitable and happy people who love working and have the will to overcome difficulties.

With the displayed photos, she wants Uruguayan people to understand that in Vietnam the war is over and Vietnam is on the road of development and has achieved great achievements since the beginning of reconstruction after the wars./.
