Representatives of Hanoi municipal departments and businesses on June 2 attended a meeting to respond to the World Environment Day.

Addressing the event, Deputy Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Vu Hong Khanh said the city has adequate conditions for developing the green economy.

However, he said, outdated technologies are still causing energy waste and polluting the environment.

Khanh urged departments, organizations, and businesses to join hands in building a new green economy model by investing in renewable energy, saving natural resources, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions

Themed "The Green Economy: Does it include you?", this year’s World Environment Day aims to encourage local people to use low carbon technology and renewable energy which can significantly reduce environmental risks and preserve ecological diversity./.
