A total of more than 963,000 students sit high-school graduation exams on the morning of June 2 with their first subject being literature.

The Ministry’s Educational Testing and Quality Assessment Department said the number of students doing exams fell by 8.5 percent compared to last year’s figures.

Of the figure, over 856,000 are full-time candidates and the rest are continuing-education students.

The country has almost 41,000 classrooms for this year’s exams with more than 124,000 teachers and educational officers responsible for supervising examinations.

In Hanoi, the city’s inspection group said the supervision councils have ensured good facilities and security for the exams.

Following the 150 minute literature test, the students will take chemistry for an hour in the afternoon./.
