    Cambodia, China sign military cooperation pact

    Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister cum Defence Minister Tea Banh and Chinese Defence Minister Liang Guanglie signed a military cooperation agreement in Phnom Penh on May 28.

    Under the deal, China will continue receiving Cambodian military personnel for training in China , Tea Banh told reporters after the signing ceremony.

    Specifically, China will provide 120 million CNY (20 million USD) to Cambodia to build military hospitals and military training schools for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces.

    Liang Guanglie’s visit will strengthen and expand friendship and traditional relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China in all fields, especially the military sector, he added.

    Earlier, during their talks, the two officials emphasised the friendship and cooperation between the two countries, pledging to continue to support each other in the international arena.

    During his stay in Cambodia , Minister Liang Guanglie is scheduled to have a consultative meeting with ASEAN Defence Ministers on May 29, to increase military cooperation between China and ASEAN.

    Minister Liang is in Cambodia for a four-day official visit from May 27, while the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting is on May 29-30 in Phnom Penh./.
