In 2012, Danang City will strive to mobilize VND 90 billion from different sources to reduce poverty and ensure social welfare, said a representative from the city Fatherland Front during the launching ceremony of the day for the poor on May 17.

Of the figure, VND 20 billion will be added to the fund for the poor while the remaining VND 70 billion will be spent on social welfare activities.

Over the past 11 years, in response to the campaign for the poor launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Danang City has mobilized over VND 700 billion for social welfare activities, including over VND 80 billion for the fund for the poor.

The money has helped over 12,000 poor families gain adequate housing, facilitated sustainable development and healthcare, and supported over 2,000 poor pupils going to school./.
