More than 25,600 Vietnamese guest workers were sent to work abroad in the first four months of this year, according to the Overseas Labour Management Department (OLMD) under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The markets which receive large numbers of Vietnamese guest workers are Taiwan (China), the Republic of Korea, Japan, Laos, Malaysia and Cambodia.

The OLMD predicted that there are more opportunities for Vietnamese labourers as the economies of traditional markets which recruit Vietnamese guest workers still obtain high growth.

In addition, the economy in the Middle East is beginning to rebound and have demand for large numbers of labourers, it said.

The OLMD is working with businesses to expand to new markets, such as Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Finland and Sweden./.
