    Vietnam remains 97th in FIFA world rankings

    Vietnam remained in 97th position with 347 points in the world rankings, according to the latest FIFA information.

    This is the fourth consecutive month the country has ranked inside the top 100.

    Vietnam ranked 96th in the world in September 2004, its highest standing ever having been 84th in September 1998.

    In the Southeast Asia (SEA) region, Vietnam still rank first (97th), followed by Thailand (141st), the Philippines (148th), Indonesia (151st) and defending SEA Games champions Malaysia (153rd).

    In Asia, Australia top the list, while the second and third positions belong to Japan and the Republic of Korea , with Vietnam ranked 15th.

    Spain are still leading the world with 1,442 points, leaving behind Germany with 1,345 and Uruguay with 1,309 points.

    FIFA will announce the next rankings on June 6./.
