Vietnam, Hungary boost ties between foreign ministries
    16:21 | 09/05/2012

Deputy State Secretary for Global Affairs of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry Janos Hovari visited Vietnam from May 7-9 at the invitation of the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, Hovari met with Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh and held talks with Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.

Both sides informed each other about the situation in their respective countries and discussed specific measures to promote multifaceted cooperation, especially in economics, trade and sustainable development when Vietnam is going to perform its role as coordinating country for ASEAN-EU relations.

They also compared notes on regional and international issues of common concern, including the East Sea. Sharing Vietnam's view, Hovari stressed the importance of ensuring maritime freedom and safety in the East Sea, adding that all disputes should be settled through peaceful means in accordance with international laws, including the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

The two sides also agreed to continue strengthening cooperation between the two foreign ministries in the future.

During his stay in Vietnam, the Hungarian diplomat visited HCM City and Ha Long City in the northern province of Quang Ninh./.
