    07:49 | 25/04/2012

Construction of a Vietnam-Laos revolutionary historical site started in Lao Kho village, Phieng Khoai commune, Yen Chau district, Vietnam’s northern province of Son La on April 24.

The project forms part of activities to celebrate the 50 th anniversary of the Vietnam-Laos diplomatic ties and the 35 th year of the signing of the Vietnam-Laos Friendship and Cooperation Treaty.

National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung and his Lao counterpart Pany Yathotou attended the ground-breaking ceremony.

Lao Kho village witnessed revolutionary activities of the late Lao Party General Secretary Kaysone Phomvihane and the Northern Lao Voluntary Team during the 1948-1950 period.

The relic site has been recognised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a national historic site.

Speaking at the event, NA Chairman Hung highlighted the political meaning of the construction project, saying that it is a practical activity to celebrate the Vietnam-Laos Solidarity and Friendship Year.

Lao NA Chairwoman Pany Yathotou said the event is a vivid manifestation of the Vietnam-Laos friendship which was fostered by sweat, bone and blood of the two countries’ soldiers.

It also reminds the two countries’ younger generations to uphold and develop the special relations, she said./.
