Thailand is one of the key markets for Vietnam’s seafood exports, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).
Vietnam’s export volume of squiz and octopus to Thailand has increased continuously over the past five years and is forecast to remain stable until the end of 2012.
In the first three months of 2012, its exports of dried, grilled squiz and processed octopus to the country earned US$5 million, making Thailand Vietnam’s third biggest seafood importer in Asia, after Japan and the Republic of Korea.
To hold the high potential Thai market, seafood experts urge businesses to study and understand the demand of the market, and increase the quality of products to raise their competitiveness.
VASEP will work with Thai seafood businesses to share information, diversify products and expand this market./.
