    PM receives largest number of votes in NA election
    CPV: According to the National Assembly election, 153 candidates introduced by the central level and 340 introduced by the provincial level have been selected for NA deputies term XII. 34% of them hold post-graduate degrees, 63% hold bachelor degrees, 87 are ethnic minority people, 127 women, 43 non-Party members, 68 youths, one self nominated and 138 re-elected. Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received the highest number of votes, with 99.07%.
    Nghe An: 15 NA deputies elected
    The National Assembly election committee of the central province of Nghe An has announced the list of candidates who are elected to be NA deputies. 15 candidates have been chosen from 25.
    NA election: Reports on number of voters balloting completed
    The latest information from the National Assembly election council shows that all the 64 provinces and cities nationwide have sent reports on the number of voters participating in the NA election.
    VFF president: This NA election marks great progress in promoting democracy
    Although the final result of the National Assembly election has not been announced, Chief of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Pham The Duyet affirms that no remarkable problem occurred during the election.
    NA election: a great success
    With the remarkable success of the 12th National Assembly election, the new legislative body is expected to fulfill its tasks and continue to institutionalize national construction policy in the new period which was adopted by the 10th National Party Congress.

    Foreign news agencies such as Xinhua, ITAR-TASS, Reuters, AP and AFP told the news on the National Assembly election in Vietnam on May 20, 2007. These news agencies reflected ten millions of voters’ ebullient atmosphere in voting day, this is the first National Assembly since Vietnam jointed the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

    More than 99 percent of voters cast ballots in 12th NA election
    As many as 58 out of 64 cities and provinces nationwide had submitted reports on the 12th National Assembly election by 22:00 on May 20, with the turnout rate surpassing 99 percent in many localities, according to preliminary report of the Election Council.
    Rights and duties of citizens from the ballot
    Balloting represents the rights and duties of each citizen, is the requirement of the new development period of the country and is also the new demand of each citizen. May 20 is the day of the National Assembly election Term XII, and each voter will implement their rights and duties. For that great and significant event, each citizen should perform well their obligation.
    Over 1,400 voters in Phu Quoc island ballots
    CPV: As the central election council has agreed, over 1,400 voters in Tho Chau commune in Phu Quoc island in the southern province of Kien Giang ballot on May 18.
    Voters go to polls early in remote areas
    Due to the remoteness of some locations the Central Election Council has permitted some communes and groups throughout the country to go to the polls for the upcoming 12th National Assembly election early.
    Preparations ready for NA election
    As of May 16, the preparation for the National Assembly election completed in Hanoi. The list of candidates’ biographies has been posted in all communes and wards.
    National Assembly candidates finish canvassing
    All 876 candidates running for the 12th National Assembly election had by May 16 completed their campaigning period.

    Bac Kan: NA election information disseminated in ethnic minority languages
    The Bac Kan Radio and Television has disseminated information on the National Assembly election in the Tay, Dao and Mong languages, apart from the Kinh universal language.
    Inspection increased to ensure security for NA election
    According to a sub-committee on ensuring the safety and social security of the National Assembly election council, localities nationwide have actively implemented measures to protect the election, master the situation and promptly deal with problems arising.
    Meetings between NA candidates and voters taking place openly, democratically: VFF official
    Deputy Head of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Do Duy Thuong affirmed that the meetings between National Assembly deputies and voters at the local level had taken place in an open, democratic, constructive and equal way.
    Remote and mountainous districts, Central Highlands provinces ready for NA election day
    Remote and mountainous districts have used creative ways to distribute documents on the National Assembly election and the biographies of NA candidates from the center of the districts to voting places, overcoming the difficulties brought about by the traffic system.
    Photo and poster exhibition on the 12th National Assembly opens
    60 photos and posters on the 12th National Assembly election are on display at an exhibition, opened at 29 Hang Bai street, Hanoi on May 16.
